Dugga transforms school environment on Mount Kilimanjaro - starts the Democratization of Education Project

Swedish research based Edtech company Dugga Assessment has initiated the Democratization of Education Project to provide modern education in developing regions lacking the resources and possibilities. This is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. Madam Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania, H. E. Grace Alfred Olotu strongly believes in the cause and supports the project. Other partners that make this project happen are Microsoft Corporation, SES and the Educational Board of Moshi, Tanzania.

For the project, selected schools in remote areas will undergo a complete transformation to modern fully digitalized showcase schools. Currently, these schools have no or very limited access to internet, electricity nor computer devices. The first school to kick off this project is the Mnini Secondary School, located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi, Tanzania.

Tanzania as a country prioritizes education at all levels and aims to be at the forefront of making education and learning available to all children irrespective of gender, religion, class or race, so we strongly believe in this research project and hope that the project meets its objectives” states H.E. Grace Alfred Olotu, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The mission of the scientific research project is to standardize quality education worldwide especially in rural areas with limited or no internet access and electricity, in unreached marginalized regions while developing and sharing the skills of teachers worldwide.

This project has attracted the involvement of researchers from esteemed universities around the globe such as Stockholm University, Stockholm School of Economics, University of Nevada, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institute, Victoria University of Wellington, ICDE, ICoBC, Linköping University as well as the Swedish Association for Open, Flexible and Distance Education.

We are excited about being able to realize this research project, together with partners and researchers around the world, to contribute to the democratization of education and to improve quality of learning worldwide”, say Dr. Claudia Rademaker and Dr. Patrik Nilsson, co-founders of Dugga.
