Press release -

EdTech Company Dugga raises $5.1 Million Investment

Dugga raises $5.1 million after closing a Series A investment round, making the Swedish EdTech startup ready to expand globally. Sparkmind, a learning sector-focused venture capital firm is the lead investor together with existing as well as new investors. The raised capital is focused on accelerating Dugga’s international growth and reinforces the strong confidence investors have in Dugga’s global potential.

Dugga’s assessment platform, known for enabling schools to assess their students in a fair and unbiased way with features providing students equal opportunities to learn and grow, has done a particularly great job during the past year. The Swedish EdTech startup enabled schools worldwide to continue education when the Corona pandemic hit the world. The digital assessment market has rapidly grown since then. Since last year Dugga has expanded from 2 to 120 countries, making Dugga one of the fastest growing EdTech companies.

Its research-based, innovative assessment solution also resulted in winning the Microsoft Global Partner of the Year Award 2020 as Microsoft’s Education Specialist Partner. Thanks to its intuitive usability and fast onboarding Dugga has become increasingly popular among teachers worldwide as an assessment solution to increase students’ learning outcomes, to be used both in-class and remote.

“Dugga, being in the digital assessment industry is well positioned for global growth. Dugga is leading in the industry and together with its talented team we are confident that the company is fit to scale globally”, says Kai Talas, partner at Sparkmind.

Dugga started as a research project at Stockholm School of Economics and Stockholm University by its two founders. Together they developed the innovative assessment platform with features in high demand among schools, teachers and students.

"With the new investment we can capture the global opportunities on the market and increase the speed of our growth even further. Now we can realize our vision and provide schools worldwide with new ways to assess knowledge for improved learning outcomes”, say Claudia Rademaker and Patrik Nilsson, Founders and VP’s of Dugga.

Sparkmind is the first Nordic venture capital company focused on the learning sector. Dugga’s approach to provide research-based assessment solutions giving equal opportunities to students to learn was one of the key factors behind the investment.

“We are impressed by what our talented team has achieved, especially during the past challenging year. It feels great to be supported by an EdTech investor such as Sparkmind enabling us to expand globally", say Maria Gårdlund, CEO and Bengt Jönsson, Chair of the Board at Dugga.
