Press release -

British Aircraft Carrier moored at the Port of Gothenburg

At around 11 o'clock local time on Friday morning, the British aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth arrived according to plan in the Port of Gothenburg.
“This is one of the largest warships we have received in the port, and it has required a lot of planning up until the last minute," says Erik Waller, Deputy Harbor Master at the Gothenburg Port Authority.

"The initial plan was for the ship to arrive on Saturday, but because the ship has its own wind restrictions of approximately 10-12 m/s for entering the port, we chose to advance the arrival to today, as wind conditions appeared to be more acceptable," says Erik Waller.

The ship is now moored at the quay in Skandiahamnen, quay 614. Because the ship has a significant overhang, barges have been placed as a buffer between the quay and the ship to limit the overhang over the quay. Once at the quay, the Swedish Armed Forces will be responsible for the ship's security. A military protection zone has been established around the ship, both on the quay side and a good distance into the water.

During the port visit, the ship will be restocked and there will be opportunities for crew rest. HMS Queen Elizabeth will remain in Skandiahamnen for approximately a week.
