Greenfood Greenhouse crowned Logistics Facility of the Year 2023

This year, 40 new logistics facilities competed for the title of "2023 Logistics Facility of the Year." They were evaluated on criteria like innovation, environmental commitment, operational efficiency, and employee well-being. The results are in, and Greenfood's state-of-the-art Greenhouse facility in Helsingborg is the winner.

Annually, the business magazine Intelligent Logistics presents this prestigious award. Out of an initial 40, only five were shortlisted as finalists. Today, it's been announced that Greenfood's Greenhouse has clinched the top spot.

Greenhouse was developed to strengthen Greenfood's leading role in the healthy food space, and improve customer offerings. Built by Skanska, this facility prioritizes sustainability and aims to reduce Greenfood's carbon footprint.

"Together with Skanska, we've developed a cutting-edge, environmentally efficient food and logistics center. This positions us to further expand in Europe, increase sales, and enhance our product range.", said Ted Stenshed, CEO of Greenfood Fresh Produce.

The vision was clear from the outset: establish an advanced food and logistics center focusing on modern technology and sustainability. Greenhouse excels in energy conservation and environmental practices, with features like efficient cooling, waste heat recovery, and an extensive array of solar panels to cater to a significant portion of its energy needs.

"Our ethos and the products we provide are dependent on a healthy planet. It's imperative that we continue to reduce our carbon emissions and commit to sustainable practices. This new facility is integral to that mission," said Lisa Isakson, the Head of Sustainability at Greenfood.

Criteria for the "Logistics Facility of the Year" award included:

  1. Addressing a genuine market need while optimizing operations for both operators and customers. The facility's location should be selected with minimal environmental impact in mind.
  2. Having an innovative or unique design, energy source, workplace environment, and technological integration.
  3. Achieving or aiming for green certification standards such as BREEAM, EU Green Building, or LEED.
  4. Prioritizing employee well-being, offering amenities like fitness centers, nearby lunch options, and easy access to public transit.
