Greenfood is investing in state-of-the-art robotics in their new facility of the future

Greenfood's new 44,000 square meter facility will soon be ready. When it opens, it will cater to northern Europe's increased interest in plant-based food, food-to-go, and fruit and vegetables. To handle the growing order volumes, Greenfood has invested heavily in robotic solutions and warehouse automation. This investment means faster handling of goods, less truck traffic around the premises and higher security.

Greenfood is one of Northern Europe's leading players in healthy food. The group has grown strongly in recent years, and is experiencing continued increased demand as more and more people choose a plant-based lifestyle with vegetables and fruit as its foundation. To handle the increased demand, the group is now establishing a new state-of-the-art food facility packed with green technology and warehouse automation.

“We are investing heavily in robotic solutions for palletizing, carton handling, and packing of our products. This investment means even faster and more efficient handling of goods, which means that we can continue to increase our volumes and grow in the market,” said Björn Johansson, CEO of the business area, Greenfood Food Solutions.

When the new building is completed, it will be 44,000 square meters in size and one of Northern Europe's largest centres for sustainable and healthy food innovation, production and distribution.

Safer and better working environment for staff
Through the rapid development of technology and automation, there are new opportunities to create solutions that make Greenfood more competitive on the market – which, at the same time, improve the working environment and safety for our people.

“Robots also mean that we free up the team's power for more qualified tasks. Some of our heavy, repetitive tasks disappear, which improves ergonomics and the environment for our staff. At the same time, we reduce truck traffic, which also increases safety in our facility,” Björn Johansson said.

The automation of the facility will take place in two stages in collaboration with Dynatec. The first step includes robotic palletizing solutions and automated packaging systems for fruit and vegetables.
