Tallinn Zoo evaluated by customers as family tourism destination

This June Tallinn Zoo was evaluated by customers as family tourism destination within the BOSS-funded project implemented by Haaga-Helia UAS.

The Researcher Petteri Ohtonen interviewed 18 visitors and 13 potential customers and found out the following:

The overall evaluation of the Zoo as family destination reached 3.89 out of 5. Most of all the visitors appreciated the ample number of cafes, picnic spots and additional services, good location and free parking, clean environs and wide variety of animals.

When asked, to what extent their expectations were met at the zoo, the average rate reached 4.28.

While assessing how much children enjoyed being at the zoo, the rating climbed as high as 4.65.

It turned out that 89% of the interviewed visitors entered the zoo from the old main gate and only 11% through the new gate at the new main building.

2/3 of the interviewed visitors were the first-timers and 28% were there for the second time.

Visitors had also a number of recommendations regarding further development – for example more and better information and also in Finnish.

Now the work continues with finding solutions to the problems pointed out and the development opportunities where improvement seemed to be needed and possible.
