Camille Rast & Sara Hector on the podium in Kronplatz
Camille Rast and Sara Hector continue on their course of success! Following her victory in the Giant Slalom in Kranjska Gora at the beginning of January, Camille Rast takes second place in this discipline in Kronplatz. Sara Hector also confirms she's on top form at the moment with third place on Tuesday.
"We are very pleased to have two athletes on the podium. The top three athletes all skied a very good race and built up a relatively comfortable lead in front of the others," said HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Camille is meeting our expectations in terms of performance. Sara is getting better and better. The first run had many turns, while the top and bottom sections of the second run were more like a Downhill course. But you need to ski the whole run well."
"Two more runs that went well"
For Camille Rast, this is the third podium in the Giant Slalom this season following second place in Semmering and her victory in Kranjska Gora. After the first run, the 26-year-old Swiss athlete was also in second place. "Each run starts from zero. We train hard every day with our sights set on the podium. Today, there were two more runs that went well. On the second run I lost too much time on the lower part," explained Camille Rast at the finish.
Third podium of the season for Sara Hector
For Sara Hector, who was in the lead after the first run, this is also the third podium of the season in this discipline. The 33-year-old Swedish athlete finished second in Tremlant and third in Semmering. "I have mixed feelings here because I wanted to win today. One run was good, and the other was not. But you can't complain if you are on the podium. That is really very good," said Sara Hector. World Cup points were also notched up by Vanessa Kasper from Switzerland in 14th place, Stephanie Brunner from Austria 17th, Estelle Alphand from Sweden 19th, Lena Dürr from Germany 21st, and Hilma Lövblom from Sweden in 23rd place.
