Press release -

Podiums for Lena Dürr & Vincent Kriechmayr

Lena Dürr finishes in second place in the Slalom on Sunday to round off the World Cup weekend in Copper Mountain. The four days of racing in the USA included two events each for the men and women. On Thursday, Vincent Kriechmayr had already bagged a podium finish for the HEAD Worldcup Rebels with second place in the Super-G, the first speed discipline event of the season.

"There were more very good races for us in Copper Mountain. The men's Super-G on Thursday was brilliant, and it was very close," said HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Atle Lie McGrath dropping out of the Giant Slalom was a pity. Lena Dürr skied a superb second run in the Slalom. We will continue to work on winning a race in the women's Slalom. Finishing in fourth, fifth and sixth place in the Giant Slalom was great, even if it wasn't a podium. That's where we miss Lara Gut-Behrami. All in all, we are leaving Copper Mountain with a very positive feeling and now look forward to the first real speed weekend for the men in Beaver Creek."

First podium of the season for Lena Dürr

Lena Dürr was delighted with her first podium of the season in the Slalom on Sunday. The 34-year-old German athlete was in ninth place after the first run and clocked the third-fastest time on run two to finish second overall. This is her 17th podium in this discipline. "This podium finish feels very good. My coach set this run. It involved a lot of fast-paced turns, which is in my favour at the moment. It's great that it worked out so well and it's a cool way to follow the Giant Slalom," explained Lena Dürr at the finish. Wendy Holdener from Switzerland and Anna Swenn-Larsson from Sweden finished next to take fourth and fifth place for the HEAD Worldcup Rebels. Joining them in the top ten were Sara Hector from Sweden in ninth place and Camille Rast from Switzerland in tenth place. Aline Danioth from Switzerland in 16th place, Eliane Christen from Switzerland in 19th place, and Jessica Hilzinger from Germany in 22nd place also picked up World Cup points.

The HEAD World Cup Rebels also put in a strong performance on Thursday in the men's Super-G, the first speed discipline event of the season. Vincent Kriechmayr finished in second place, just eight hundredths of a second short of victory. This is the 38th World Cup podium for the Austrian athlete, and the 23rd in the Super-G. "I didn't have any rhythm at all in the first section. The rest of the run went very well. It was a solid start for the whole team. Let's see what happens in the next races. I'm actually extremely satisfied with this result," said Vincent Kriechmayr.
