Triple victory in Super-G for Gut-Behrami, Lie and Gagnon

An impressive result for the HEAD World Cup Rebels in the first Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on Saturday. The third consecutive victory for Lara Gut-Behrami in this discipline, leading her HEAD colleagues Kajsa Vickhoff Lie from Norway and Marie-Michele Gagnon from Canada. In the second Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which was postponed until Monday, Lara Gut-Behrami immediately followed up with yet another win.

Lara Gut-Behrami is in a class of her own in the Super-G. Following on from St. Anton and Crans Montana, the Swiss athlete celebrated her third and fourth Super-G victories in a row in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie finished with a place on the World Cup podium for the first time in her career on Saturday. Marie-Michele Gagnon raced to her first podium finish in the Super-G and her first result in the top three since her success in the Combined even in Soldeu in February 2016. Christine Scheyer from Austria finished in fifth place, and Corinne Suter from Switzerland finished in seventh place, putting two more HEAD athletes in the top-ten. Elena Curtoni from Italy finished in 13th place.

"It was very difficult to gauge how the snow was today. It felt very slushy. It wasn't a good feeling at all," explained Lara Gut-Behrami on Saturday. "I tried to let the skis run and find the fastest line. For me, it's important that I stay at this level and ski as fast as I did today on a regular basis."

Lara Gut-Behrami builds 195-point lead in the Super-G World Cup

The second Super-G in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was postponed from Sunday to Monday due to fog. Lara Gut-Behrami was unbeatable yet again in this race. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie just missed a podium finish in fourth place, while Corinne Suter finished fifth. Also in the top 15 were Marie-Michele Gagnon in twelfth place, Laura Pirovano from Italy in 13th place, and Elena Curtoni in 15th place. In the Super-G World Cup, Lara Gut-Behrami has a 195-point lead over Corinne Suter after five out of seven races. In the overall World Cup, the Swiss athlete is in second place and just 42 points behind Petra Vlhova.

"Kajsa Vickhoff Lie has arrived at the top"

"On Saturday it was the perfect outcome for us, with HEAD skis all over the podium, and Monday was also excellent," said HEAD Racing Director Rainer Salzgeber. "Lara Gut-Behrami really is in top form and has certainly earned a break now before the World Championships. Kajsa Vickhoff Lie has arrived at the top. And Marie-Michele Gagnon is cool. She skied with HEAD while she was still at school and returned to us for the start of this season. It's great that she's very happy working with us. Things are looking pretty good for the women's World Cup right now. One or two can step the pace up a bit maybe, but otherwise it looks as though things could go well in Cortina."

Alexis Pinturault leads the overall World Cup with 924 points

In the men's competition, there were two Slaloms on the schedule in Chamonix this weekend. In both events, Alexis Pinturault finished eighth as the fastest HEAD athlete. In the overall World Cup, the French athlete has now notched up 924 points to put him 258 points in fron
