    ​#BRAINSTORM will light up Bjørvika in Oslo

    It’s here at last. The artwork BRAINSTORM by Lars Ø Ramberg has taken three years to produce. The result is a gigantic piece of conceptual art, comprising over 400 metres of handmade glass tubing in yellow and white. Europe’s largest neon artwork is the first thing you see when you enter Oslo’s new main public library, Deichman Bjørvika.

    ​The library of the future is finally ready to open for the public of Oslo and all visitors to the Norwegian capital. Located between Oslo Central Station and the Oslo Opera House, Deichman Bjørvika is an extension of the 235 year history of the public library of Oslo.

    Deichman Bjørvika opens finally on 18 June 2020. Designed by Atelier Oslo and Lundhagem, Oslo’s new main public library enjoys a stunning location, right by the opera on the waterfront. Here you will find a new artworks outside by the american artist, Martin Puryear. Unveiling on 15 june at 10:30 am.

    ​Deichman Bjørvika opens on June 18

    Finally, Oslo gets its new main library. H.R.H Crown Prince Haakon to attend the opening. Deichman Bjørvika was originally due to open on March 28, but the COVID-19 situation made it impossible. Library Director Knut Skansen is now looking forward to finally allowing people into the new main public library.

    1000 children moved 6,000 books to Deichman Bjørvika

    1000 children helped Deichman move 6000 books from the now closed main library to the new main library, centrally placed in between Oslo Central Station and the Opera building. The new library opens its doors March 28 2020.
