FutureComms15: 5 Minutes With Shivvy Jervis

Editor, presenter and previously named as one of CNN's leading ladies, Shivvy Jervis talks to us ahead of FutureComms15. Here's what she said to say about her talk and the state of PR and comms...

1. What are the key themes of your talk at this year's FutureComms?

- Video storytelling: its sheer power. The YouTube series I created for Telefonica now stands at 1.2+ mn views and over 5.5 million minutes watched

- New metrics to evaluate success of a video (eg actual minutes watched vs views)

- Using creative journalistic video (vs marketing format) that is insights and people led, to help position a brand as an innovation leader

- Insider view on how a completely brand agnostic YouTube channel can still bring amazing value for the company that is backing the series

2. Whose talk/s are you most looking forward to and why?

Robert Philipps and David Schneider - both very timely topics and eloquent speakers taking a fresh honest take

3. Would you say PR is dead?

In its traditional form, yes and no. Face to face networking or chats won't ever go out of style and remain useful. However, being "pitched at" via a press release is now quite ineffective and almost redundant.

4. What are your predictions for PR and marketing for the next 12 months?

>> Video "PR" will go from strength to strength

>> Brands could use truly immersive tech such as virtual reality to draw a user in

>> Events as a format will remain very valuable and effective

Shivvy will be discussing how an ex-journalist created an original YouTube video series on future tech, backed by Telefonica, and hence positioned the brand as an innovation player, at FutureComms15.
