Why a PR push during Christmas is an excellent idea

Christmas is here, a time to spend with your family and get into the festive spirit. Due to the holiday, many businesses tend to slow down even though this is the perfect time to get your audience's attention. Let us tell you why:

1. Media is craving content.

Even if most businesses are slowing down during the holiday season, and even the influencer industry to some extent, the media is not. Take this opportunity to build your relationship with media by providing them with content in a time of need(Yes, we will get to exciting topics further down)

2. Internet usage increases big time

Think about it; for kids, the schools are out, and adults are taking a much-needed relaxing holiday - scrolling through their social feeds, reading up on the news, or watching TV. With that said, you have an excellent opportunity to use the increase in Internet usage to create and build greater awareness for your brand. With a great pitch, knowing the media is also craving content, it's a home run.

3. Give them something other than Black Friday and Christmas deals

November and December usually mean crazy campaigns promoting and encouraging shopping towards yourself and others, and statistics show a rather alarming increase in purchases during this time of year.

With that said, there is an apparent demand for content that is not a call for consumption, which you can take advantage of.

Then, what could you write about?

Maybe you have a topic that comes to mind when reading this, but if you don’t, we have collected some ideas on what you could write about.

  • Wrap up the year
Compile statistics for the past year and highlight the most important in a press release. Statistics are a goldmine for news creation and the end of the year is a great time for numbers.
  • Give your opinion on new laws and regulations.
Give your opinion about a new law and regulations affecting your area or industry. Discuss the implication and share your opinion in a press release or an opinion piece.
  • Make a holiday post
How is your business affected by the festive season? Tell us in a blog post!
Regardless if you are a tech company, a coffee roastery, or a car mechanic, you have a story to tell. Are cyberattacks more common during Christmas? Is there a secret Christmas coffee receipt? Is Christmas a low season to serve your car and, therefore, the greatest opportunity for consumers? Share your Christmas story!
  • Set the agenda and forecast your next year
Sum up the year and set the agenda for next year in an opinion piece. Then, with clear messages and concrete goals, perhaps in the form of a New Year's resolution, you can show the way of the debate by setting an example.

If you find yourself with some extra downtime during the holidays, have fun, put it to good use, and crank out some happy holiday content. Stay creative this holiday season!
