Mynewsdesk supports the most vulnerable this Christmas through a donation to Oxfam

For the fifth year in a row, Mynewsdesk donates 25.000 SEK to a chosen charity organisation to support the ones in need. The receiver of this year's Christmas donation was Oxfam Sweden, an organisation working to fight poverty and injustice.

CEO of Mynewsdesk, Louise Barnekow is proud to offer support to Oxfam, and underlines the importance of contributing, especially during tougher times.

– In the aftermath of the horrendous war in Ukraine, it is more important than ever to support the vulnerable. It felt obvious, as well as urgent, to give to an organisation like Oxfam, who are on the ground in places of the world facing the toughest challenges.

With a small team of 20 employees, Oxfam Sweden was established back in 2014 with a clear mission to raise awareness of their advocacy work and fundraise for their emergency responses. At the moment the main focus is on the alarming hunger crisis in East Africa, the ongoing conflicts in Yemen, as well as supporting refugee families that have had to flee their homes due to the war in Ukraine.

Anna Holmqvist, Communications Manager at Oxfam Sweden is grateful for the donation from Mynewsdesk, and looks forward to continuing their work for a long-term change and equal future.

– It's a welcomed contribution that helps us save and improve people's lives at a time when far too many people around the world are forced to flee their homes due to climate disasters or war. No one should ever have to go to bed hungry, she says.

Oxfam was originally founded in Great Britain in 1942, to support starving women and children during the Second World War. Today they operate in 87 countries, with thousands of partners, allies, and communities working to save and protect lives.

Today, it is not unusual for companies to move away from gifting their employees expensive Christmas gifts and focus on donating to charity. It has a significant impact on morale and is a great way to spread some holiday cheer.

– It is appreciated by all our employees in Mynewsdesk to be able to participate and contribute to something bigger. We are all proud to help where it is needed, CEO Louise Barnekow concludes.
