Liner services network in focus as Port of Gothenburg website goes live
Responsive, constantly alert to change and with a focus on the liner services network. Just some of the features that characterise the new Port of Gothenburg website, which will go live today.
"With 10,000 unique visitors per month, our website is certainly well visited. Almost 30 per cent surf using a mobile or tablet. With the new design we will improve the experience for all users," said Cecilia Carlsson, Vice President Communications, Port of Gothenburg.
A responsive site adapts its appearance to the user's screen size, regardless of whether it is a computer, tablet, mobile phone or other unit. Apart from the new design, the website includes a whole host of other new features.
"We have listened carefully to our customers and partners and we have focused on improving the parts that are in greatest demand, including information about arrivals and departures, maritime issues, liner services and news items."
There has been a considerable focus on improving the liner services map. Both the port's direct services and destinations with transshipment are now shown. Previously it was only possible to see direct services.
"We have the broadest range of services in the Nordic region and we can present them in a considerably better and more effective way, which is very satisfying. This particular part of the website is vitally important for the country's import and export companies," Cecilia Carlsson explained.
The map showing daily rail shuttle destinations has also been upgraded.
Another new area is the inclusion of special entry points for different types of goods, such as cars, forest products and containers.
"Having clearer product entry points makes it easier to find out which terminals and other companies offer services within the area."
Information about Gothenburg Port Authority as a workplace has also become more communicative and receptive to needs and opportunities.
"We have major construction projects ahead of us – a new terminal and a new logistics park are just two examples. And yet we're not particularly well known as a workplace for engineers and that's something we intend to change."

The Port of Gothenburg is the largest port in the Nordic region. 30 per cent of Swedish foreign trade passes through the Port of Gothenburg as well as 60 per cent of all container traffic.
