Bartender Duo Takes Over the Cadier Bar With New Cocktail Concept

This autumn, Grand Hôtel is launching an exciting new endeavour, with two of Sweden’s most renowned bartenders presenting a cocktail menu they co-developed for the Cadier Bar.

The Cadier Bar at the Grand Hôtel has been undergoing a transformation since spring 2018, when Emil Åreng and Christian Grevius took the helm at the cocktail bar. They are now presenting a completely new cocktail menu, in which a playful presentation and unexpected taste combinations tell the story of the Grand Hôtel and its founder Régis Cadier.

Both Emil Åreng and Christian Grevius are among Sweden’s most celebrated bartenders and are behind the development of some of Sweden’s most accoladed bars. Marking their first time working together, the new menu is testimony to the strength of the collaboration of their creative forces.

We work very well together even if our creative expression is different at times. We often develop the basics and decide on the ingredients together, and then find fun solutions for serving the new creation. Christian has awesome ideas that are easy to build interesting stories around. A cocktail at the Cadier Bar should be more than just a taste experience,” says Emil Åreng.

The new cocktail menu is built on a classic MixMax game, in which each card in the game represents a different drink. The different characters, which can be combined endlessly, are based on Régis Cadier’s journey from France, via Russia, to Sweden, and his experience of our Swedish traditions. The cocktails can be ordered individually, or bar guests can also build their own character with a hat, face, body and feet, in a so-called “flight” consisting of four tasting-size cocktails.

We wanted to put the spotlight on Régis Cadier and came up with a creative way to tell his life story through a cocktail menu. Together with our talented colleagues, we trust our playful and challenging drinks will give guests a true Grand experience,” says Christian Grevius.

Starting next year, a new character will be added every month, thereby adding four new drinks to an already extensive cocktail list. The Cadier Bar’s new cocktail menu will be available from November 22, and in addition to the playful presentation, the menu also includes several new signature cocktails.
