The Importance of Sustainability

Here we had a chat with our new sustainability officer, Andrew Purvis to discuss his view on the importance of sustainability as well as the future of Estate Logs. Take a closer look at the development of our operations and industry as a whole as we aim to protect and give back to our environment.

It is well documented that global warming is indefinitely spiralling out of control and it is the fault of our own. The human attitude towards our lifestyle tends to favour the easiest route with optimal results. We often ask ourselves, is it cheap? Does it work? When can I get it? And the consequences of this behaviour is what will ultimately destroy our environment.

Commonly we pinpoint big issues as the core reasons for our environmental failure, for example fossil fuels or deforestation, often we are guilty of shifting this responsibility onto others. Whether it’s the government, large corporations or even those with more money, this stance is all wrong. I believe sustainability is not limited to major changes alone, it is instead down to each of us individually. Addressing this behaviour and adopting appropriate changes can help to ensure a more protected and sustainable future for us all.

Vision for Estate Logs
My goal at Estate Logs is simply to do our part, I believe that prop tech companies have an ability to influence sustainability more than they may first think. We have taken years to develop a product that improves financial sustainability so why not be environmentally sustainable too? Two problems, one solution.

As we enter a new year I believe that the future of Estate Logs lies with transforming our operations to create a more effective and sustainable outfit. This will provide undeniable benefits to our users as well as doing our bit for the future of our planet.

Future Expectations
In order to kickstart our work we have initiated a whole sustainability team responsible for generating new, exciting ideas that will ensure change across all company operations. We aim to tackle our services inhouse as well as externally, making actionable changes while guiding and encouraging our users to do the same. I expect great developments thanks to our innovative and driven employees that will reduce our emissions and ultimately give back to our environment thanks to our sustainability work.

How can Real Estate Work Sustainably?
As it becomes an ever growing issue it is important that property managers around the world put more focus on sustainability within their operations going forward. As an industry that relies on innovation and development the generation of environmental advances should be first up on everyone’s agenda. If we all do what we can, where we can, then the rewards will follow and we can begin the repair that our world deserves, creating a safer and more sustainable future for all.
