25 April, 2023 Webinar/Seminar: Geopolitics and Energy – Opportunities and challenges for the green industries
To increase the understanding of contemporary global politics, it is important to have a geopolitical perspective. The geopolitical situation in Europe changed fundamentally when, on 24 February, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine. Based on security and trade policy aspects, the effects on energy and climate policy, security of supply and the effects on Swedish agriculture and forestry sectors are discussed at this seminar.
The framework for energy supply is global. The seminar begins with an overview of the geopolitical macro landscape and global developments. Energy supply, energy use and global economy are highlighted with an EU perspective on climate commitments, energy supply and security of supply. The overall picture also includes a security policy focus where the connection between energy and international relations and energy and conflicts, respectively, is highlighted.
The second part of the seminar highlights what this mean for Sweden and the forestry and agriculture sector? How does the global system affect Swedish energy system development? How can a Swedish strategy for the bioeconomy contribute and what lessons can we learn from Finland's strategy for security of supply?
