WINETRADE - Since 2007, we have imported wine and distribute directly to restaurants all over Sweden. We strive to offer a wide selection of excellent products and a high level of service to our customers, whether to a hotel, restaurant or a private customer. We do independent, natural, artisanal, real, tasty wines. We always seek organic and/or biodynamic work principals in the vineyards. It is by no means a quality control of the product, rather an approach and a way of thinking that contributes to genuine and qualitative agriculture. We make huge efforts to find grape farmers who produce wines of high quality that are coherent with nature, culture and tradition.

KONTEXT - Kontext started in 2017 by Ingvar Johansson. Based in Ängelholm in the southern part of Sweden the company’s main focus is artisan wines from Italy and Slovenia. My interest for wine turned into a passion when visiting Italy’s Friuli region in the early 2000’s.

ROSFORTH & ROSFORTH - Founded in Copenhagen by Sune Rosforth, R&R has been importing organic, biodynamic, and progressively natural wines into Denmark since 1994, and into Sweden since 2011.

Winemaker: Lago Bitarishvili organically farms 2 hectares of 60 year old vines of the Chinuri variety. The vineyard is located in the village of Chardakhi, Kartli region of Georgia. Iago is a Chinuri specialist, making both no-skin and extended skin-contact wines exclusively in the Qvevri vessel - the clay amphorae traditionally buried in the earth. The vast majority of Iago’s 5000 bottle production is exported, and Iago has worked hard since his beginning in 2003 to promote traditional, natural Georgian winemaking beyond the Caucasus region. Today Iago stands as one of the most respected and celebrated winemakers of the resurgent movement of traditional Georgian winemaking.

JORDMÅNEN - Jordmånen was founded fall 2019 by a wine loving couple, Jessica Mihai & Mika Snickars who also run an art gallery & record store together. The interest for natural wine has been there for many years but it was after a trip to Tbilisi in 2014 everything changed when drinking orange amphora wines. A new passion was born! Jordmånen import wines made by wine makers who works biodynamically and sustainable, with low intervention or no intervention at all. Small production of raw, lively and unique wines made as wine always has been made since ancient times. The wine makers we work together with is Philippe Brand from Alsace, Franco Terpin from Friuli and Giorgio Nicassio from Puglia.

Winemaker: Giorgio Nicassio. Cantina Giara is located in a magical corner of Puglia not far from Adelfia, in the province of Bari. Giorgio’s family has been making wine here since his grandfather started the tradition in the late 800’s and Giorgio focuses on autochthonous varieties such as Primitivo, Verdeca, Malvasia, Greco, Fiano and Moscatello Selvatico. The work in the vineyard follows strict biodynamic guidelines, with the aim of favouring health and biodiversity of the soils and the environment. Giorgio’s “natural wine” philosophy translates in only wild fermentations, no temperature control and nothing added or taken away, therefore no winemaking additives, fining nor filtration, as well as added SO2 in infinitesimal amounts at bottling. The soul and strength of the skins, for both reds and especially whites, is a vital element in unleashing a wine’s potential in Giorgio’s opinion, so maceration is a key element of his work.

WINE WAVES - Founded in 2014 by Pontus Lindqvist. Stockholm based importer focusing on wines from “The other Europe”, meaning wines from the “New Old World”, or what we sometimes call it: “wines from the countries that no one has understood the potential and quality of”. Wine Waves represent and import wines from artisanal producers who work in a low intervention style and focusing on indigenous varieties.

Winemaker: Annamária Réka Koncz was born i Hungary but moved to Copenhagen for studies in Master in Agriculture and winemaking. Her dream of making her own wine became reality a few years back when she bought a couple of hectares of old field blend vineyards in Barabás, on the Ukraine-Hungarian border. She has just released here second vintage consisting of 4 white wines with varying degrees of skin contact, one PetNat and one red wine from Kékfrankos.

MATTIAS RING AND SYSTEMBOLAGET - Have been working at the Swedish monopoly for alcoholic beverages for more than 15 years in various positions. Passionate about conducting tastings and find new combinations food/wine. Glad to see an increased demand for natural and orange wines on the shelves at Systembolaget.

GIOVANNI SEGNI - Have been working in the wine industry between Europe and Asia for the past 10 years, and way before that he fell desperately in love with natural (and especially orange wines) in Japan, promised land of all that is amber-hued. Work now as Head of Imports for Argentinian natural winery Stella Crinita and also consult for export and online communication for a small portfolio of natural italian vignerons. He occasionally love to muse on the beauty of the #sacredskins for Simon J. Woolf’s The Morning Claret and the online magazine of US’ natural wine E-commerce Primal Wine. Co-organizer of natural wine festival Nordic Naturalia, 2019 in Malmö and coming to Stockholm soon.
