Common questions on Ultherapy® Prime in Singapore

Dr Ivan Puah, Medical Director at Amaris B. Clinic, shares the common questions asked during consultation with Ultherapy® Prime patients, and enquiries from our social inboxes.

How does Ultherapy® face lift work?

Ultherapy® Prime uses time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally and restore skin's elasticity [1] and youthful appearance without surgery, putting the bounce back into the skin and your confidence.

This non-invasive skin-lifting treatment, which uses high-intensity micro-focused ultrasound with real-time visualisation (MFU-V) [2], can also smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

Ultherapy® Prime stimulates collagen production in the skin's foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over 2 to 3 months, with results lasting up to 6 months.

What is Ultherapy® patented DeepSEE™ visualisation technology?

Approved by the FDA in 2004, Ultherapy® is recognised as the Gold Standard in skin lifting and tightening.

It is the first, and arguably the only, device in the world to use its patented ultrasound visualisation technology, DeepSEE™.

This allows the doctor to better target the skin, bone, and muscle structures and focus on the areas where collagen rebuilding is most required.

Is Ultherapy® Prime treatment bearable?

There may be some discomfort when ultrasound energy is delivered, but this is only a temporary sensation and a positive sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

Will Ultherapy® Prime face burn my skin? Is it safe?

Ultherapy® ultrasound waves pass through the skin surface. Ultherapy® Prime is safe and effective, ideal for women and men, with over 1,750,000 treatments performed worldwide.

The safety and efficacy of Ultherapy® Prime have been established through published clinical studies.

Who is Ultherapy® Prime most suited for?

Ultherapy® face lift is an ideal treatment for men and women concerned with sagging skin, jowls, skin laxity, drooping eyelids, lines and wrinkles on a crepey décolletage [3].

How long does each session of Ultherapy® Prime face lift last?

Forty-five minutes to an hour.

What is the cost of Ultherapy® Prime facelift treatment in Singapore?

The cost of Ultherapy® Prime treatment in Singapore varies depending on the treatment area and the degree of skin laxity. For more accurate pricing, kindly schedule a private consultation with Dr Ivan Puah.

How soon will I notice the results?

New collagen works to lift the skin from within. The effect continues to improve for three to six months and can last a year or more.

What is the difference between Ultherapy® Prime and High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)?

Many think that High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and Ultherapy® Prime are the same treatment, but this is incorrect.

Ultherapy® Prime and HIFU aim to tighten and lift sagging skin, but they use different technologies and techniques.

Unlike HIFU, Ultherapy® Prime has the added benefit of real-time imaging and micro-focused Ultrasound technology.

Additionally, HIFU and Ultherapy® Prime use different types of ultrasound beams.

Ultherapy® Prime

  • Uses ultrasound technology that precisely targets the treated area
  • Stimulates collagen production deep within the skin
  • Addresses brow, chin, neck & décolletage
  • No downtime

HIFU

  • Ultrasound energy that uses a broader, more diffuse approach
  • Heats the skin tissue at various depths
  • Promotes collagen and elastin production
  • Minimal side effects

Your skin laxity, concerns, and desired results will also play a significant role in determining which treatment is right for you.

What is the difference between legacy Ultherapy® and Ultherapy® Prime?

The Ultherapy® Prime difference includes:

  • Larger Screen: A 35% larger screen provides clearer, sharper real-time imaging, enabling better visualisation of tissue layers.
  • Faster Treatment: With about 20% more efficiency, you can expect shorter sessions without compromising results.
  • Customised Precision: Enhanced imaging allows for more accurate targeting, particularly in delicate areas like the brow, ensuring personalised treatments.
  • Improved Comfort: Better energy delivery techniques reduce discomfort and heat sensations, making the experience much more pleasant.
  • Targeted Design: Optimised for precise energy delivery in specific areas, such as under the chin and around the face.

Ultherapy® Prime combines these features to deliver a more comfortable and effective lifting and tightening experience for anyone looking to enhance their skin.

How does Ultherapy® Prime benefit men?

Research indicates that men prefer subtle enhancements to look more rested while preserving their masculine features [4].

Men's skin is thicker and contains more collagen, making it firmer but more prone to sagging because it has less fat. Their muscle mass contributes to a stronger jawline.

This makes men ideal candidates for Ultherapy® Prime, which offers gradual, natural-looking improvements without drastic changes.

Is Ultherapy® Prime suitable for those above 60?

At 68 years of age, a patient noticed her jawline softening into jowls, her cheeks losing their firmness and descending, and her eyebrows adopting a subtle droop that friends, kindly but consistently, pointed out.

While the patient desired a skin lift, the idea of a surgical facelift was out of the question. So she turned to Ultherapy Prime at Amaris B. Clinic.

After 6 to 8 weeks, she noticed her skin feeling firmer and tighter. The initial tired, sagging appearance began to soften.

Is Ultherapy® Prime safe for all skin types?

Designed for those who are starting to notice mild to moderate signs of ageing, Ultherapy® Prime serves as an excellent non-surgical alternative for lifting and tightening the skin.

It is also safe for all skin types and most effective for individuals.

Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy® Prime?

You may be a good candidate for this treatment if you have:

  • Sagging skin on your face or neck
  • A loss of definition along the jawline or under the chin
  • Wrinkles and fine lines on your face or décolletage
  • A desire for overall skin firming and rejuvenation

What takes place during an Ultherapy® Prime consultation with the doctor?

Ultherapy® Prime consultation at Amaris B. Clinic:

  • Guided through a structured journey
  • Starts with a comprehensive medical history review for a personalised treatment plan.
  • Discuss expected outcomes, how long results may last, and realistic timelines.
  • Tailored to the areas that matter most to you, such as sagging brows, a double chin, jowls, or overall facial laxity

Why do women experience a decrease in collagen levels after menopause?

Research shows that after menopause, women lose collagen in their skin [5].

On average, collagen levels drop by 2.1% and skin thickness decreases by 1.13% each year for about 15 to 18 years.

Another study found that post-menopausal women had lower collagen levels than premenopausal women [6].

Why are my collagen supplements not tightening my skin as they claim to?

Collagen is a natural protein that helps keep the skin firm, toned, and youthful.

However, there is no scientific evidence that consuming or applying collagen can make the skin supple [1].

Our collagen production starts to decline by 1% after we reach 20, and it will continue to decline as we grow older [7].

Eating collagen or applying collagen cream or skincare cannot penetrate the deep skin barrier, and the only way to rejuvenate collagen is by regrowth.

Why is Ultherapy® Prime good for collagen banking?

Collagen banking is not just about immediate enhancements; it's about long-term skin health. Starting collagen banking early can result in a more pronounced improvement as the skin naturally begins to lose collagen with age.

By incorporating Ultherapy® Prime into a skincare regimen, you can proactively support your skin and help stave off the signs of ageing, particularly beneficial for those in their 30s and 40s.
