  • Colorful Design Bar created by Fredrik Paulsen

    Genre-defying designer Fredrik Paulsen has been commissioned to create the Design Bar for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 4–8, 2020. The menu this time round will be composed by chefs Marion Ringborg and Linn Söderström from pop-up restaurant Garba.

    As this year’s Guest of Honour the London-based studio Doshi Levien has been commissioned to create an installation for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February.     Design Talents is Formex’s department for showcasing new talent, where independent designers and design groups can both sell their products and display them for buyers, partners, producers and the press/media. This year’s exhibitors include several designers with innovative ceramics, fabric patterns that highlight women's history, and a building set for children.

  • All nominees for the Formex Nova Award 2019

    The presentation of the Formex Nova Award is as usual one of the highlights during the Formex fall exhibition – it will take place on the first exhibition day August 20. ​Formex has established the Formex Nova Award – Nordic Designer of the Year, to promote high-quality Nordic design created by a still relatively unknown designer working in the Nordic interior design industry.

  • Celebrated trend expert Li Edelkoort creates unique exhibition for Formex

    At Formex, which will be held August 20-23, an object’s inherent energy will be in the spotlight in a unique exhibition created by world-famous trend expert Li Edelkoort. The inspiration behind the exhibition, which will fill Stockholmsmässan’s entire entrance hall, is animism – the belief that even inanimate objects could have a soul.

    Formex – the largest and most important platform for Nordic design – will introduce a new product and hall layout in August as well as special theme days to discuss hot industry topics. "We are tightening our grip on Formex to adjust to an industry experiencing rapid change. This will also create new opportunities," says Lotta Ahlvar, Operative Event Manager for Formex.

    This year’s Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be held February 5–9.The fair’s exhibitions will feature a lot of wood and visitors will be able to listen to lectures by internationally acclaimed designers and architects. On Saturday, February 9, the fair opens to all design lovers who would like to see the most recent trends within lighting and furniture.

  • Renaissance in wood

    One clear trend in interior architecture and design is the growing interest in wood. Swedish coniferous trees in particular appear to be back in favor. At this year’s Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, which will be held February 5-9, the fair’s exhibitions will feature a lot of pine and spruce.

  • Nordic Designer of the Year – Formex NOVA award – nominees appointed

    Formex has established the Formex NOVA award – Nordic Designer of the Year, to promote high-quality Nordic design created by a still relatively unknown designer working in the Nordic interior design industry. A jury appoints the nominees for the award. The winner will be presented 20 August.

  • van Deurs wins Formex Formidable 2018 design award

    The jury-assessed award, Formex Formidable 2018, goes to van Deurs for its pleated shawl. The designer is Susanne Beskow. The honorary ‘People’s Choice’ award, which is determined by the public, goes to Skeppshults gjuteri for its ”Spice” mill designed by Carl & Carl.

  • Star-studded program at the largest interior fair in the Nordics

    Formex opens its doors on Tuesday to a truly star-studded program. Designer legend Zandra Rhodes has designed the exhibition in the Entrance Hall – a veritable explosion of color! World-famous trend forecasters Li Edelkoort and Edouard Keller will share their trendspotting. Formex will present its own trendspotting, Formex Trends, and much, much more.

  • This year’s Guest of Honour Neri&Hu highlights social issues in an installation

    This year’s Guest of Honour – the award-winning Chinese design and architecture office Neri&Hu – is creating an installation at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair that highlights social issues unique to China. The traditional Chinese village, which is disappearing at an alarming rate, is depicted in the installation.

  • The creation of the design objects in the Nationalmuseum’s new restaurant in an exhibition at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

    An exhibition at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will be entitled “NM & A New Collection”. It will exhibit the joint creation of the Nationalmuseum’s new restaurant. The exhibition shows the process surrounding the interior design of the restaurant and the production of eighty new interior objects as well as the work on the renovation of the museum.

  • Zandra Rhodes recreates her colorful home at Formex

    Formex has always created an exciting exhibition in the Entrance Hall, and this time is no exception – the exhibition will offer “extra everything”! Legendary designer Zandra Rhodes, who is visiting Formex as a Guest Influencer, will create a truly unique exhibition that includes a replica of her own home.

  • Diversity and awareness in Greenhouse

    Designers and design schools from all over the world are invited to apply to Greenhouse, Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair’s area for unestablished designers. The jury has now selected the exhibitors for 2019, which include Kajsa Melchior Eriksson, Begüm Cana Özgür and Nikolaj Thrane Carlsen. In total, 37 designers/design groups and 29 design schools from 20 countries will participate.

  • Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair establishes a new design award – Born Classic

    Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is establishing a new design award – Born Classic – in collaboration with the auction house Bukowskis, which will form the jury. The award will go to a piece of furniture or lighting that has qualities that could make it a design classic of the future. The objective is to bring attention to and encourage good, long lasting design.

  • Formex presents top international names and new design areas

    Not only will design legend and style icon Zandra Rhodes come to Formex at Stockholmsmässan on January 15-18, but two of the world’s leading trend forecasters, Li Edelkoort and Edouard Keller, will be guests at the leading interiors fair in the Nordics. Formex also presents two completely new areas: Designer Pet and Smart Objects.
