As Gastronord 2024 kicked off with a press conference on Tuesday morning, it did so with a strong focus on the future, sustainability, skills development, and industry advancement. Additionally, they announced the significant news that Gastronord, previously held biennial, will now become an annual event due to high demand from industry professionals.
Are humans too selfish to be able to live sustainably? Is cannibalism the solution to future food supply needs? Does Generation Z have the answers to the world's food challenges? Is it possible to trick consumers into making the right choices? The food challenges we will face in the future pose many questions. Some of them will be answered at GastroSummit at Stockholmsmässan.
On 3-4 September, GastroSummit – a totally new and unique gastronomic forum – will cater to all tastes at Stockholmsmässan. News, innovation and the food of the future are on the menu. Bocuse d´Or Europe is one of Europe’s most prestigious culinary events and it will be held in Stockholm as part of the major GastroNord food fair in May 2014. This event, which is a European championship for chefs, will be a boost for both Stockholm and Stockholmsmässan.
Week 17 sees the main event of the year within the hotel, restaurant and catering industry, when GastroNord (24-27 April) and Vinordic (25-27 April) are held at Stockholmsmässan. This year’s fairs will attract the culinary élite from Sweden, Finland and Norway. There will also be all manner of new features, including the new Chef of the Year area.
This year's Mitt kök culinary exhibition broke several records; it was larger than ever before, with more competitions, and more exhibitors, journalists, visitors and personalities from the food and beverage world. A total of 36,880 'foodies' visited the exhibition.
Stockholmsmässan and Mässrestauranger have entered into a joint venture to promote world-class Swedish cooking. The companies will be supporting Swedish participation in the Bocuse d’Or, a prestigious competition that can be likened to a world championship for chefs, through a three-year gold sponsorship agreement.
