Press release -

Cows, calves and cameras

They may provide the funniest outtakes for You've been framed, but the saying - never work with animals and children - are definitely wise words, as Arla Foods' marketing department in Leeds found out recently.

Stuart Ibberson, Cravendale brand manager reveals how he got more than he bargained for when filming the new Cravendale advert in Prague recently: "We had 10 cows on the set to use in the new advert. Before filming began, two vets checked all the cows to ensure they weren't pregnant, maybe it was just a mystery pregnancy, but they were definitely proven wrong.

"Next thing we knew, the film crew stopped filming and started to run over to the barn where the cows were being looked after, I followed nervously to find one of the cows giving birth on the set - that was definitely not in the script.

"The poor cow gave birth to probably a larger audience than anticipated and her calf was standing up within an hour after its birth, pretty impressive really. The calf and mother were escorted off the set to be cared for and there was rumours drifting around that it was going to be named after the brand," added Stuart.

Stuart is not the only one to experience such acts of nature, one Arla photographer was taking shots at a farm for the new Arla Foods corporate website recently when excited farmers ushered him into a barn to capture another birth of film - much to his reluctance!
