Press release -
Businesses, start your engines!
Budding entrepreneurs will soon receive greater support from Bury libraries thanks to funding from the Arts Council’s Enterprising Libraries programme.
The council will share £45,000 with the other nine Greater Manchester authorities to help prospective business people via the Start Up Engines initiative.
This offers expert guidance in starting a business, access to excellent information resources such as the COBRA and MINT databases, a series of inspiring events, and guidance on how to exploit social media to improve business opportunities.
Councillor Jane Lewis, cabinet member for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “We’re delighted that the library service has been successful in attracting this funding and I’m sure the programme of events and support provided by the Start Up Engines initiative will be invaluable to prospective local businesses.”
More details about the programme, which will start in early 2014, will be announced over the coming months. Access to the COBRA and MINT databases is already available to local businesses.
For more information on all these services, call Gary Phillips, information services librarian, on 0161 253 5054 or email g.a.phillips@bury.gov.uk
