What is it really like to do business with ECC? Holiday park client gives his feedback
Kevan and Karen Phelan bought a lodge at Talacre Beach Resort in 2021 for £35,000. In 2024 they upgraded to a larger unit. The new one was £70,000 and they financed the purchase. It was costing the couple £900 a month over ten years. A significant amount, but worth it to the Phelans. "We loved it. It was great," confirms Kevan.
The problems started around a year later. Mr and Mrs Phelan woke one morning to a large flood around their unit. At first they were not fazed. The park staff had always been friendly before, particularly when the Phelans were spending money.
"So, because we love the place, me and my wife, Karen, I went to the office. I just asked them to move us to another pitch," says Kevan.
Talacre refused to move Kevan and Karen from the pitch with poor drainage. "They told us: If you want moving, it'll cost you £1,200, which I thought was very unfair."
The Phelans decided to seek professional advice. As luck would have it, the very next day they heard a radio advert for Holiday Park Advice Centre (the holiday park division of European Consumer Claims). Kevan called up and liked what he heard. The Phelans retained ECC to claim compensation from Talacre Beach Resort.
"So here I am, they've been very good. They've got me to the stage now where we're finally at court proceedings and I'm looking forward to winning the case."
Kevan rates ECC highly based on his own experiences so far. "You know, I'd recommend ECC to anyone, because they’ve done everything for me. Sorted all the legal part of it. We're on our way. Hopefully, I'll get a settlement, and it's the end of Talacre Beach for me.
"What a nightmare it has been, but ECC, took care of me. If you have a problem, get in touch," Kevan recommends.
