#TeamSCT - Meet Gary, one of our London Marathon runners!

Name: Gary Robinson

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I have been running for just over four years following a back operation and Physio. Prior to this year I have previously run one marathon, London in 2015 when I was fortunate to win a place through a London Marathon caption competition, I previously chose to raise funds for Alzheimer's as it followed the death of my Mother in 2014.

On this occasion I was fortunate to win a place through my running club (Edmonton) who provide great support and a community atmosphere to all there members.

Can you tell us why you have chosen to run for The Sick Children’s Trust?

My challenge has been to run two marathons in one month – Manchester and London.

I have chosen to raise money for two children's charities, The Sick Children's Trust and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. I am very lucky that so far I have not had to use the brilliant services that these two brilliant charities provide, but know a few families that have. They provide a key role in helping families get through some of the toughest times.

The London Marathon is a very special event and one that has inspired me since watching the first one in 1981. Being a London boy, growing up in Camden, I always wanted to complete the London Marathon and to have the opportunity to complete it for a second time is an honour. I hope whilst undertaking my challenge I can make the smallest difference to assist others.

What are your top three training tips?
