Simigolf Evening Strengthens the Exchange of Ideas at Umicore Electroplating

Umicore Electroplating invited its employees to a group activity last Thursday. At 4:00 p.m., the participants met at Simigolf in Bettringen. Due to the strong order book and the resulting heavy workload, some employees had to cancel at the last minute. As a result, only 17 of the original 30 colleagues were able to attend the event.

An exciting competition unfolded on the course. After an entertaining 90 minutes, it was clear which of the participants had shown the best touch. The focus of the afternoon, however, was on the shared experience and the exchange of ideas across departmental boundaries.

“Joint activities create a relaxed atmosphere in which topics can be discussed that might not even seem worth mentioning in day-to-day work. It is precisely from these conversations that ideas can emerge that make working at the company even more enjoyable,” says Frank Oberst, chairman of the works council at Umicore Electroplating in Schwaebisch Gmuend. For example, an idea that came out of such conversations contributed to this year’s introduction of the Wellpass for employees.

The next staff event is already planned for the spring. The format has not yet been decided. Dagmar Buergel from the management secretariat, who organized the Simigolf evening, is already looking forward to hearing ideas and suggestions from the staff.
