World of Volvo Opens Traffic School for Children – A Playful Experience Focused on Road Safety
World of Volvo is expanding with an all-new experience: Traffic School, an outdoor driving track where children aged seven to twelve can drive electric Volvo cars and trucks in a realistic traffic environment. In a playful and educational way, children will learn the basics of traffic safety – and even get the chance to earn their very first “driver’s license.”
“Traffic safety has always been a core value at Volvo. With Traffic School, we want to create a hands-on experience that sparks curiosity, helps children understand traffic rules – and is also a lot of fun,” says Viktoria Wallner, Chief Experience Officer at World of Volvo.
The experience is carefully designed to suit children of different ages and levels of prior knowledge, and is ideal for children between the ages of seven and twelve. At the center is a specially designed track where kids drive child-sized electric vehicles – modeled after the latest Volvo designs – through intersections, pedestrian crossings, and roundabouts.
More Than Just Play
Traffic School is more than a traditional driving course. Here, the joy of driving is combined with learning about safety, responsibility, and respect in traffic. The experience is based on educational principles aimed at creating a fun activity that takes into account children's development and learning abilities.
“It’s about sparking an interest in traffic safety and respect for fellow road users, rather than teaching like an adult driving school,” says Emma Bryngelsson, who developed the educational concept.
For those who want, there is also the opportunity to earn a “children’s driver’s license” – a fun keepsake to take home.
“A Fantastic Addition”
At World of Volvo, visitors can enjoy everything from the innovative exhibition and concerts to stunning architecture and food and drink from Stefan Karlsson’s Ceno Brasserie. With this new experience, the attraction becomes even more appealing to families with children.
“Traffic School is a fantastic addition to World of Volvo’s offerings, helping to make us a place that breathes innovation, inspiration, and experiences for all ages,” says Viktoria Wallner.
Traffic School opens on May 1, 2025, as part of the regular exhibition. Children must be at least 110 cm tall to use the attraction.
More information and opening hours will be available at Traffic School.
