Preparing to Launch Activities in Latvia

Within its global mission Haaga-Helia entered Estonian market last year as Haaga-Helia Hospitality Competence Center in Estonia ( http://ee.haaga-helia.fi/)in co-operation with Estonian Business School (EBS) and is now considering Latvia as the next option in the Baltic Sea Region.

The first contacts were established by Haaga-Helia Hospitality Competence Center in Estonia already last summer – mainly with the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association - and the following steps have been taken so far:

Haaga-Helia Hospitality Competence Center in Estonia presentation along with Estonian culinary market and food tourism outline at the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association conference in November in Riga

Negotiations with Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association along with the meetings at the Association of Latvian Travel Agents and Operators, and Latvian Tourism Development Agency in Riga in December

Haaga-Helia Hospitality Competence Center in Estonia representative participating at the pre-Matka-fair events at the Latvian Embassy in Helsinki in January

Knowhow sharing event at the Haaga-Helia Pasila Campus for the Latvian Matka-fair delegation in Helsinki in January

Haaga-Helia Hospitality Competence Center in Estonia presentation along with outline of trends having impact on the hospitality at the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association seminar along with meetings with key hospitality industry stakeholders in January in Riga.

More activities are planned for February, March and April in Tallinn, Helsinki and Riga.

The aim is to build up the content of the Mission Latvia during the spring and launch the activities in the autumn.
