Zwei Schüler entwickelten im Rahmen der Schul-AG des Gymnasiums Langenhagen Roboter. Mit großem Erfolg: Sie haben zuerst die deutsche Meisterschaft gewonnen – und dann sogar die Weltmeisterschaft.
Die Aroundtown Foundation finanzierte den beiden Schülern die Reise nach Bangkok, dem diesjährigen Austragungsort der RoboCup-WM. Damit übernimmt die Foundation gesellschaftliche Verantwortung und setzt sich gezielt für Projekte und Institutionen im nachbarschaftlichen Umfeld des Portfolios ein – gerade auch in den Bereichen Jugendförderung und Bildung.
Die Gewinner-Roboter der beiden Gymnasiasten aus Langenhagen zeigen auf Sprachbefehl Choreografien. Mit der Bühnenperformance der Roboter wollen die beiden auf das Problem der Meeresverschmutzung aufmerksam machen.
Die Schulleiterin des Gymnasiums Langenhagen, Silke Kaune, freut sich über das Ergebnis ihrer Schützlinge: „Wir sind sehr stolz auf die Schüler, die unser Gymnasium so souverän international präsentiert haben. Bei der Präsentation nach dem Gewinn der Weltmeisterschaft waren gerade die jüngeren Schülerinnen und Schüler hingerissen von den Möglichkeiten, die der RoboCup bietet. Ohne Unterstützung durch Aroundtown wäre das allerdings nicht möglich gewesen. Eine hervorragende Investition in die Zukunft!“
Der RoboCup-Wettbewerb hat das Ziel, Wissenschaft und Technik im Bereich Robotik und Künstliche Intelligenz zu fördern. Es ist der führende und größte Wettbewerb für intelligente Roboter und eines der weltweit bedeutendsten Technologieevents in Forschung und Ausbildung. Der internationale Nachwuchswettbewerb des RoboCup ist der RoboCup Junior, welcher offen für Schülerinnen und Schüler bis zu einem Alter von 19 Jahren ist.

Two students from Langenhagen become RoboCup World Champions
The Aroundtown Foundation financed their trip to the World Cup in Bangkok
Two students developed robots as part of the school workshop at the "Gymnasium Langenhagen". With great success: They first won the German championship - and now the world championship.
The Aroundtown Foundation financed the two students' trip to Bangkok, this year's venue for the RoboCup World Championship. In this way, the Foundation is taking on social responsibility and specifically supporting projects and institutions in the neighborhood surrounding the portfolio - especially to support youth development and education.
The winning robots of the two high school students from Langenhagen show choreographies on voice command. With the stage performance of the robots, the two want to draw attention to the problem of marine pollution.
The principal of the Gymnasium Langenhagen Silke Kaune is pleased about the result of her protégés: "We are very proud of the students who have presented our Gymnasium so confidently internationally. At the presentation after winning the world championship, the younger students in particular were amazed by the possibilities offered by the RoboCup. However, this would not have been possible without Aroundtown's support. An excellent investment in the future!"
The RoboCup competition aims to promote science and technology in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. It is the leading and largest competition for intelligent robots and one of the world's most important technology events in research and education. RoboCup's international junior competition is RoboCup Junior, which is open to students up to the age of 19.
