Frederik Schandorff at Road America: High Expectations

After two consecutive years of top results at Road America, the Danish Ferrari driver is aiming to continue his strong form when the legendary Wisconsin circuit hosts the seventh round of the IMSA Championship.

Following a series of promising outings in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, where Frederik Schandorff and Brendan Iribe secured a GTD podium finish and took the lead in the Bob Akin Championship – which grants the winning team a guaranteed entry to the 2026 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the focus now turns to Road America.

Road America has proven to be a strong venue for Inception Racing, with the team finishing second at the iconic track north of Chicago in each of the past two seasons.

“Expectations are high for this weekend, there’s no doubt about that. The track has been good to us in recent seasons, and if we can take that final step to the top of the podium and score our first IMSA victory of the year, we’ll certainly take it,” said Frederik Schandorff.

“Road America is another classic on the calendar and a fantastic place to go racing. But it’s also a track known for action, and it’s not only about being fast. Like every other IMSA race, it can quickly turn into a game of chance where safety cars and restarts shake everything up. But that unpredictability is exactly what makes this championship so exciting,” the Dane added.

Schandorff, Iribe and the rest of Inception Racing will be up against 13 other cars in the GTD class at this weekend’s IMSA round. The event begins with free practice sessions on Friday, August 1, followed by qualifying on Saturday, August 2. The two-hour and 40-minute race goes green on Sunday, August 3, at 2:10 p.m. local time – 9:10 p.m. CET.
