GTWC finale: Double podium for Bastian Buus in Valencia

Victory and runner-up finish for the Danish Porsche factory driver, who came close to clinching the title in the 2025 edition of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup, decided in Valencia on Sunday.

Bastian Buus, Bashar Mardini and the rest of Lionspeed GP came within reach of the Bronze Cup championship title in a thrilling season finale of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. After finishing second in the opening sprint race of the weekend, the Dane himself drove the German team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R across the finish line to claim a commanding victory in the second race.

The weekend’s strong results were, however, not enough to secure the title from the winning Ferrari squad – the renowned and experienced Swiss outfit Kessel Racing – which sealed the championship by just five points ahead of the Dane and his team.

“Of course, it’s frustrating to finish so close to a championship victory, but on the other hand we can look back at a very strong season. Out of eight races we’ve been on the podium five times, three of them with wins, so the whole team is very satisfied with our overall performance,” said Bastian Buus.

“The team has learned an incredible amount this season while also raising its performance compared to last year, which means that a large part of the mission has already been accomplished. A big thanks to the whole crew for a massive effort and an equally big pat on the back to Bashar Mardini, who has been a strong teammate throughout every race weekend,” the Dane added.

Bastian Buus’ next challenge awaits already this coming weekend at Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife. Here, the Dane will contest the ninth round of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie together with the Pirelli-backed and factory-supported Porsche team, Dinamic GT.
