Mikkel Jensen Back in IMSA Action at Road America
Another round of the American IMSA Championship awaits Mikkel Jensen, who will team up with TDS Racing in pursuit of an LMP2 podium finish at Road America this coming weekend.
Fresh off his best FIA World Endurance Championship result of the season with Team Peugeot TotalEnergies at Interlagos in Brazil last weekend, Mikkel Jensen is highly motivated to continue the fight in the American IMSA series. The Dane will rejoin TDS Racing for the fifth round of the LMP2 championship, taking place at Road America in Wisconsin.
“I feel very privileged to be competing in the American LMP2 series alongside my WEC season, and this weekend is a great example of why. Road America is a fantastic racetrack – a classic high-speed circuit with plenty of close racing and no forgiveness if you make a mistake. Last year, things didn’t go our way there, but the year before we finished on the podium. Fingers crossed we can bring home some silverware again this year,” said Mikkel Jensen.
The Dane returns to the IMSA grid after missing the fourth round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park due to a clash with the WEC calendar. He will once again share the car with American teammate Steven Thomas, who together with Jensen and third driver Hunter McElrea claimed a third-place finish in this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring. The duo currently sits sixth in the LMP2 championship standings.
“It’s been a challenging season so far, but we’re still pushing. There are three rounds to go, and two of them are the long-distance races at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta – both of which we won last year – so we remain optimistic,” the Dane added.
This weekend’s IMSA race at the 6.5-kilometer Road America circuit kicks off with free practice sessions on Friday, August 1, followed by qualifying on Saturday, August 2. The two-hour and 40-minute race goes green on Sunday, August 3, at 2:10 p.m. local time – 9:10 p.m. CET.
