Sirly Ylläsjärvi: A Visionary Chef, Entrepreneur, and Ambassador for Lapland's Unique Experiences*
Sirly Ylläsjärvi is dedicated to creating unforgettable moments for her guests. Her three establishments . Aurora Estate, Elsa, and Ulda – represent her commitment to showcasing the purity of Lapland's ingredients, the richness of its cultural heritage, and the unparalleled beauty of the region. As a chef and entrepreneur, Sirly brings the stories of the North to life, offering experiences that transcend the ordinary.
A Deep Love for Lapland and Its People
The landscapes of Lapland, its pristine nature, and its resilient people have always been close to my heart. Life here is not just unhurried but also full of warmth, community, and the strength that comes from working together. Every dish I prepare and every experience I offer is rooted in my profound respect for this region and its people. The stories I hear every day and the dedication of local producers inspire not only me but also the soul of my establishments.
Dreams and Vision
My dream has always been to bring Lapland into the international spotlight, not just as a travel destination but as a culinary gem. I take pride in telling the story of Lapland through every dish, whether it’s the meticulously curated flavors of Aurora Estate, the unique communal dinners at Elsa, or the casual but skillfully crafted lunches at Cafe Ulda.
The beauty of Lapland’s nature is reflected in the stories behind our offerings. Whether it’s the locally sourced milk used in Elsa’s gelato, or the sight of salmon being flame-grilled over an open fire at Cafe Ulda’s Christmas table, these moments are what make this work special. I want every guest to feel like they are part of these stories – part of Lapland.
Aurora Estate: The Final Season of an Icon
Aurora Estate’s last season will culminate in the spring of 2025, but until then, we remain committed to our promise: *"Aurora Estate pampers its guests beyond measure."* This winter, we are introducing a new wellness experience that combines morning sauna sessions with ice swimming, included in the accommodation price. This unique opportunity connects mind and body in a way that few places in the world can offer. Could this be the only hotel in Finland to make such an experience part of its daily offerings?

Elsa: A Restaurant Where Every Dinner Becomes a Story
In just one year, Elsa has earned a legendary reputation. This 20-seat communal dining experience offers evenings full of surprises. Guests never know who they’ll be seated next to or what the evening might bring. Once, a world-renowned concert pianist from Germany performed an impromptu recital at the end of a dinner – an experience no one could have anticipated.
Elsa is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience where Lapland’s ingredients, culture, and stories come together. Each dish is carefully crafted and personally introduced by me. I want every guest to understand not just what’s on their plate but also the journey it took to get there.

Cafe Ulda: Tradition and Community in Every Bite
Cafe Ulda continues to thrive as a beloved café and lunch spot while also opening its doors for special dinners centered around traditional buffets. One of the highlights is the Christmas table, set around an open fire, where guests can watch salmon being flame-grilled to perfection. Ulda blends Lappish cuisine and community in a way that keeps guests coming back for more. -Sirly-
