Grand Hôtel launches new cocktail menu with historical references

Grand Hôtel Stockholm is launching a new cocktail concept where France meets Sweden in a new and well-composed cocktail menu - "States of the Art". From October 5, the new cocktail menu will be served in the Cadier Bar, which is based on the era when the Grand Hôtel opened its doors. The new menu offers 19 tasty cocktails, some of which are non-alcoholic and a few classics remain.

Grand Hôtel Stockholm opened back in 1874. It was the Frenchman Régis Cadier who founded the hotel and brought clear influences from France with him, and it is also him whom the hotel's award-winning cocktail bar the Cadier Bar is named after. The new cocktail menu is inspired by Swedish and French culture along with late 19th-century food, drink, art, extravagant parties and fashion. Together, it creates the perfect mix of Sweden and France, the very same feeling that is present in the entire Grand Hôtel.

- The new cocktail menu, that we have chosen to name "States of the Art", has been created as a tribute to our French origins combined with our Swedish traditions and ingredients. We have been working on flavour, presentation and experience for a long time. I am so proud to be able to create new flavour history together with my team at the Cadier Bar," says Bar Manager Anton Windmar.

- Our founder Régis Cadier was a true innovator and innovation combined with our artisanship is the basis of everything we do at the hotel, which is also reflected in our new cocktail menu. Anton and his team have truly created a cocktail menu worthy of its place in our international and five-star environment, says Food & Beverage Manager Karl Persson.

From the new menu, you can, for example, order a "Whiplash", the name of which describes the dynamic irregular curves of Art Nouveau. These can be found throughout the Grand Hôtel, especially in the Cadier Bar. The "Whiplash" is a fresh cocktail containing Eminente rum, Grand aquavit, lime cordial, clementine and champagne.

The cocktail menu also includes "Starry Night" which is inspired by Vincent van Gogh's 1889 painting of the same name. The cocktail takes inspiration in both taste and colour from the painting, and if you look at the ice cube, the starry sky appears in gold.

Two of the non-alcoholic options are inspired by French can-can dancer Jane Avril and Irish singer, comedian and actress May Belfort. Both were made famous by the work of painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The two drinks contrast in taste, style, and colour, just like the two different paintings. The "May Belfort" has a nice balance of sweetness and acidity from raspberries and the "Jane Avril" has more bitterness from grapefruit.

The new cocktail menu "States of the Art" is a well-balanced menu where each cocktail has a clear French historical connection in combination with well-chosen Swedish ingredients.
