Mathias Dahlgren launches four own-label wines

Chef and restaurateur Mathias Dahlgren is launching four wines under his own name, a red, a white, a sparkling wine and a Champagne. All are available at Mathias Dahlgren’s Michelin-starred restaurant Matbaren and through Systembolaget’s order catalogue.

Mathias Dahlgren is now launching four own-label wines after a long selection process together with Head Sommelier Johan Andersson and Vice President, Martin Berg. The wines are developed with food in mind and are high quality without being too expensive.

All of the wines, with the exception of the Champagne, are organic, in line with our restaurants, which are all about living with nature in a long-term, sustainable way. It took countless tastings to find wines that I really like. Quality is important to us, which of course should be reflected in the wines,” said Mathias Dahlgren.

Mathias Dahlgren Organic Rioja is a modern Spanish Tempranillo from the producer Ontañón. The wine was awarded 92 points by Wine Spectator, which is rare for a bottle under SEK 100. The Rioja is the perfect fit to good charcuterie and also pairs well with wild game, forest mushrooms and hearty stews.

Mathias Dahlgren relishes the encounter between Nordic and Asian cuisine, with their pure, fresh produce and tastes. A classic Pinot Gris from Alsace was therefore selected as the white wine from the winemaker Hauller. Organic Alsace pairs very well with Asian cuisine as well as freshly cooked white asparagus and red shellfish.

The new range of wine also includes two sparkling wines, Mathias Dahlgren Organic Cremant de Bourgogne from the producer Veuve Ambal, and Mathias Dahlgren Champagne Brut from Pannier.

I like to open a bottle of bubbly on festive occasions,” says Mathias Dahlgren. “That’s why we selected two sparkling wines that are extremely well value-priced from a quality perspective.

All wines are available in the Systembolaget’s order catalogue and at Mathias Dahlgren’s restaurant Matbaren at the Grand Hôtel for tasting from October 5.
