Mathias Dahlgren retains Michelin stars

The 2014 edition of Michelin Guide has been reveled today and for the sixth year running Mathias Dahlgren’s two restaurants at the Grand Hôtel, Stockholm, Matbaren and Matsalen, have retained their respective two and one stars.  In the same announcement, the Michelin Guides' international director Michel Ellis announced that a standalone guide for the Nordic countries will be issued in 2015.

“We are both proud and excited to keep our stars this year; it is a hard work behind it. Me and my entire team are paralleling our  work with Matbaren and Matsalen with the ongoing development of our restaurants and the opening of out new concept Matbordet in April.” says Mathias Dahlgren.  “We are also pleased that Michelin has chosen to make a specific Nordic guide, as it is recognition of gastronomy in our part of the world. We congratulate the new Swedish star restaurants”, added Dahlgren.

Mathias and his team will be continuing to develop the new Matbordet (the dining table) concept, where the focus is on creating a meal of the future, incorporating guests in to the process.  The starting point is a communal dining table where the chef cooks for up to ten guests and where together they will share an evening of food and conversation with the exchanging of experiences central to the experience. The dining table will be open to guests in early April.
