Grand Café opens for season

For the third year in a row, the Grand Hôtel’s summer café will be opening for the season on Strömkajen in front of the hotel. Extending a warm welcome to passers-by, Stockholmers and tourists alike, the Grand Café will be offering lighter lunches and Swedish ‘fika’ straight from the Grand Hôtel’s kitchen and patisserie.

Starting with a soft opening on weekends and public holidays in time for Easter, April 3, the café will gradually expand its hours to seven days a week when spring takes a firm foothold. And from May 1, when the outdoor seating section is reopened, the café’s opening hours will be 9am to 7pm all week long.

This year, the spring menu has been expanded, adding warming soups and sandwiches as a complement to the pastries and coffee. Back by popular demand among the bakery items is the hotel’s signature sweet treat – the Grand Hôtel pastry. This consists of a gluten-free chocolate base with dark chocolate mousse, cognac-soaked cherries and cocoa gelée, topped with a chocolate Grand Hôtel emblem. After May 1, a full-scale menu will be available including lighter salads and sandwiches for those looking for something more substantial, as well as soft serve ice-cream cones with a our Grand Hôtel topping for a freshly churned treat.

“The Grand Café is as close as you can get to the Stockholm archipelago without leaving the pulse of the city. It is a place to get together, have fun and socialize. Grand Hôtel is more than just a hotel – with a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafés, we offer something for everyone – young and old,” said Karl Persson, Food & Beverage Manager Grand Hôtel.

The Grand Café, which opened two years ago, has proven popular both among regular hotel patrons and people visiting the Grand Hôtel for the first time. On sunny days it is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Royal Palace and passing boats.

The Grand Café will be open for the spring/summer season as follows:

April: Saturday-Sunday and public holidays, 9am to 5pm

May to September: 9am – 5pm

October: 9am to 5pm
