Grand Hôtel enters into partnership with the Skill Shift Initiative to increase staffing for the Elderly

The hotel and restaurant industry has been hit hard by the current corona crisis. Therefore, the Grand Hôtel has chosen to enter into a collaboration with the Skill Shift Initiative, a swedish emergency praperdness initaive (“Beredskapslyftet” in Swedish) in Stockholm, with the aim of creating a new intensive education that utilizes the expertise that exists in the hotel and restaurant industry to relieve the pressure on Elderly Care Services in the City of Stockholm.

The training starts on April 7 and lasts for three days. Those who are offered to attend the pilot training are 25 former employees in the hotel and restaurant industry from the Grand Hôtel and Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. In the next round, McDonald's employees will also be offered places. Those who have completed the education will then be offered work within, among other things, the City of Stockholm's Elderly Care operations. After the pilot program is completed, the number of participants is expected to increase rapidly to hundreds of employees from the hotel and restaurant industry.

- We are all facing this crisis and for us it feels important to contribute with benefits to society as a whole as well as our industry. As a result of the current situation, we now have the opportunity to prepare one of our large conference rooms to be use as a training venue. In addition we will also be designing a digital education platform with practical steps. I am convinced that our competent staff will be able to make a contribution to the elderly in Stockholm during this difficult time, says Pia Djupmark, CEO of Grand Hôtel Stockholm.
