Makeover for Stockholm Classic

In early September, the Grand Hôtel’s Cadier Bar, a Stockholm classic, is upping its game, tempting those with a passion for food and cocktails with a brand-new look and menu.

In 2006, the Grand Hôtel opened the doors of the Cadier Bar, named after the founder of the hotel Regis Cadier. Since then, it quickly became a popular watering hole for Stockholmers and visitors alike. Eleven years later the bar has upped it game on all fronts after a makeover.

When the Cadier Bar reopens its doors on August 30, it will be offering a completely new gastrobarconcept developed by Gabriel Ask, who was recently appointed the Grand Hôtel’s executive chef, joining the hotel from Faena Hotel in Miami. The new concept is tailored to underscore an irresistible craft cocktail and culinary offering.

The new menu is pared back and simple, with understated sophistication, and the dishes can be enjoyed alone or shared with a friend,” says Gabriel Ask. “This menu is made up of impressions from the years I spent working at different establishments around the world and will definitely make the Cadier Bar unique. Simply put, it is food that I would like to eat when enjoying a drink with friends; such as bleak roe tacos, burrata and caviar cones.”

This internationally inspired menu also draws inspiration from updated modern-classics such as a 72-hour slow-cooked Short Ribs, Grilled Greens and white chocolate with liquorice.

The bar interior has also undergone a makeover, now featuring furnishings and carpets with more of a Scandinavian look and feel. Mirrors are used to strengthen the playful and colourful impression.

“The Grand Hôtel is a luxury contemporary classic hotel. For us, it’s about continually evolving and renewing our concept in order to stay at the forefront. People like to meet up here after work for cocktails, and suddenly afternoon turns into evening and it’s time to order a bite to eat because the vibe feels so right – basically a typical evening at the Cadier Bar,” says the Grand Hôtel’s Food & Beverage manager, Karl Persson.

Gabriel Ask, Karl Persson, together with head-sommelier, Fredrik Lindfors, is the trio behind the new Cadier Bar.
