Mathias Dahlgren named Chef of the Year by Falstaff – Grand Hôtel strengthens its gastronomic position
Mathias Dahlgren was yesterday named Chef of the Year in connection with the presentation of this year’s edition of the Falstaff Restaurant & Bistro Guide Nordics. He receives the award for his work in shaping modern Nordic cuisine, not least through his restaurant Matbaren. At the same time, the other restaurants at Grand Hôtel also deliver strong results in the guide, with continued top-level ratings and clear development.
The Falstaff Restaurant & Bistro Guide Nordics is published for the third time this year and covers restaurants across the Nordic region.
In this year’s edition, where Mathias Dahlgren was also named Chef of the Year in Sweden, the restaurants at Grand Hôtel continue to deliver strong results. Seafood Gastro retains its four forks and 97 points and remains among the highest-rated restaurants, while Matbaren increases to 94 points with three forks.
“I am of course very proud of this award and that our restaurants receive such positive recognition. We are a fantastic team that works every day to develop and refine the guest experience,” says Mathias Dahlgren.
Grand Hôtel’s Riviera-inspired restaurant Grand Soleil also performs strongly in this year’s guide, increasing to 93 points and retaining its three forks.
“This is a wonderful recognition of Mathias and everything he has contributed to Swedish gastronomy. At the same time, I am very pleased with the overall performance we see at Grand Hôtel, where the results for our restaurants clearly reflect both quality and development,” says Pia Djupmark, CEO of Grand Hôtel Stockholm.
The guide includes approximately 1,900 restaurants across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the Baltic states. The ratings are based on votes from members of the Falstaff Gourmet Club and are awarded in the categories of cuisine, service, wine list and ambiance, with a maximum of 100 points and four forks.
