Sustainability: SILVA joins the European Outdoor Conservation Association

SILVA is a product and design driven company that develop and produce consumer products containing batteries, plastics, electronics etc. This, in combination with the type of activities we are promoting – outdoor activities in “the great outdoors” – are strong incentives for us to work harder on our sustainability agenda and care more about our people and our planet.

We were founded in 1933 by three orienteering brothers. The forest and the nature has always been our source of inspiration and our playground. It’s a long journey to become a sustainable company and brand. But step by step, detail by detail, we can get closer to our goal. In our new five-year business plan, we have put a sustainability strategy on top of all the other business strategies – the “Care More”-strategy. As a step in our sustainability strategy and journey, we have decided to join the non-profit European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) to support their environmental work and be an active member.

“We hope to learn a lot and get inspired by the EOCA team and the other members of the association and we think that by joining EOCA, we can get help and find motivation to accelerate our sustainability journey. As a next step, we will start up a product development project where the leading principles will be reuse – reduce – recycle” says Madelene Öhlin, Head of Marketing at SILVA.

ABOUT EOCA
EOCA has over 130 members stretching from Norway to Spain and from the UK across to the Czech Republic. As a charitable organization directly funding specific projects, the association wants to show that the European outdoor industry is committed to putting something back into the environment, and all working together a real difference can be made. The more companies that get involved, the bigger the impact will be and the more difference the industry can make to the great outdoors that it depends on.
