With UK organic demand rising, Swedish brands step in

On May 12–13th, ten Swedish organic food companies will showcase their innovative and sustainably produced products at NOPEX in London. The companies will exhibit together under the Swedish pavilion, hosted by industry organisation Organic Sweden.

The UK market for organic food has shown remarkable resilience and growth over the past 13 years, despite challenges such as Brexit and the pandemic. The Soil Association’s Organic Market Report 2025 reveals that organic product sales in the UK grew four times faster than their conventional counterparts in 2024. This growth is particularly visible in the independent retail sector, where organic sales rose by 9% last year. The UK’s growing demand for healthy, sustainable options presents an excellent opportunity for Swedish organic producers, who are well-positioned to meet this demand. Offering clean-label products with strong environmental credentials, they align with the expectations of UK consumers.

– It’s fantastic to have such a strong group of Swedish organic producers on board—representing quality, innovation, and sustainability at every stage. The UK is a natural target market for us, thanks to its growing and well-established organic sector. British consumers also have a positive perception of Swedish organic products, which further supports our efforts, says Charlotte Bladh André, CEO at Organic Sweden.

– We’re excited to take part in NOPEX and showcase what Swedish-grown, organic wholefoods can bring to the table. We currently sell to all major Swedish retailers, foodservice wholesalers, and IKEA. We look forward to connecting with UK buyers who share our vision for the future of food, says Oddgeir Hole, CEO of Färsodlarna, a Swedish company producing wholefood, plant-based organic products made from locally sourced pulses such as sweet lupine, broad beans, and grey peas.

A recent survey – conducted by insights agency Verian on behalf of Organic Sweden – among conscious consumers in Greater London found that 73% have a positive perception of organic food from Sweden, and that awareness of the EU organic label is strong.

– We’re proud to bring ten excellent companies that represent different parts of Sweden’s organic food production. Since all products are organically certified and carry the EU organic logo, they clearly communicate the standards they meet. Organic stands for quality, sustainability and transparency, adds Charlotte Bladh André, CEO of Organic Sweden.

The participating companies represent the diversity and innovation of Sweden’s organic sector, including plant-based proteins, snacks, grains, oils, and more:

  • Berte Qvarn – Sweden’s oldest family-owned mill, offering high-quality organic flour and oats.
  • Biofood – A leader in organic and health foods, with a broad range from superfoods to essential ingredients.
  • Camelina of Sweden – Versatile oils and seeds from camelina, cultivated with a focus on sustainability and great taste.
  • ·Dig – Organic snacks with a short ingredient list, created with care for both flavour and the environment.
  • Fazer Mills – Organic grain products with a strong focus on Nordic ingredients and sustainable farming.
  • Färsodlarna – Plant-based products made from locally sourced pulses such as sweet lupine, broad beans, and grey peas.
  • Moonvalley – Natural energy bars developed by elite athletes, perfect for an active lifestyle.
  • Nordic Chocolate – Award-winning bean-to-bar chocolate, crafted from organic cocoa with a passion for sustainability.
  • Oh Mungood – Organic and plant-based products made from mung beans, a sustainable protein source.
  • Svenska Lantchips – Traditional, flavourful crisps of the highest quality.
