Busiest in Scandinavia in November

With 1 811 117 passengers, Oslo Airport was the busiest airport in Scandinavia in November. Passenger volume was up 1.3% compared with November 2012.

"It's a pleasure to note that we were the largest airport in Scandinavia this month. At the same time we are aware that Copenhagen will be the largest on an annual basis," says Nic. Nilsen, managing director of Oslo Airport.

Domestic traffic increased by 0.4.% and international traffic grew 2.1%. The number of aircraft movements in November totalled 19 842, down 0.4% from the same month last year.
At 3.6%, the route to Trondheim posted the highest domestic growth rate, while Tromsø saw a drop of 8.6%.

"The variations are a reflection of the traffic generated by the Norwegian Football Cup Final. Last year, Tromsø was in the final, which created an upswing for the route between Oslo and Tromsø. This year the route to Trondheim cashed in on Rosenberg's participation in the final," explains Nilsen.

Among the biggest international routes, the route to Copenhagen is enjoying the fastest growth.

"We are seeing that more and more people want to visit Copenhagen, which is one of this autumn's winners among major city destinations. In the past, people usually took a quick trip to Copenhagen by ferry. Today they are just as likely to jump on a plane instead, which gives them more time to spend in the city," Nilsen says in closing.
