Grace Matthews, 16, from Crickhowell, has won a national Carer Award for her dedication in supporting her mum recover after a stroke. Grace was just 13 when her mum, Heidi, had a stroke which affected her speech and sight.
Emma Raven, 37, from Bootle in Merseyside, has won a national courage award for her commitment to raising awareness of stroke after surviving her own stroke in 2014. Emma’s stroke caused her to miscarry her baby and left her with long-term disabililties.
Liz Topliss, 75, from Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, has won a national award for volunteering after leading a stroke group and supporting the stroke community in various roles for almost 40 years.
A choir made up of stroke survivors, charity staff, volunteers, health professionals and family members has won a national award, for the impact it makes to local people affected by stroke.
