BookBeat 2025: EUR 146 million in revenue, 13% growth and improved profitability
The streaming service BookBeat has concluded another successful year. Following a strong inflow of new paying users during the year, revenue increased to EUR 146 million (SEK 1.54 billion). This represents growth of 13 percent; adjusted for currency effects, growth amounted to 15 percent. Profitability improved significantly, and by the end of the year nearly 1.2 million users were paying for the service across all markets.
“2025 marked ten years since BookBeat’s launch on the Swedish market. During the year, we took several steps that moved us to a new level – as a service, a team and a business. Our ambition is to build something long-term and sustainable. Strong adjusted growth of 15 percent, revenue of EUR 146 million, combined with significantly improved profitability, puts us in a strong position as we enter 2026,” says Niclas Sandin, CEO of BookBeat.
All of BookBeat’s core markets continued to grow in 2025, driven by an increasing number of paying users. Finland remains the largest market, with more than 6 percent of the population paying monthly for a BookBeat subscription. The year’s most notable highlight was Poland, which broke all previous BookBeat records for new user acquisition. Another highlight was Sweden, where BookBeat – ten years after launch – reached a new all-time high in new users. Germany, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom also continued to grow strongly in an increasingly competitive market with both local and global players.
“The key for us this year and going forward is how well we succeed in growing in an increasingly dynamic market, whether it is in an early stage or more mature. Our goal is always to grow the total market and make books a natural part of more people’s lives – not to shift money between formats and services in a zero-sum game. That we are able to set records in the mature Swedish market ten years into our journey, while at the same time smashing all records in the more immature Polish market, is a strong symbol of this,” says Niclas Sandin.
Cumulatively across all markets, from launch in 2015 through 2025, BookBeat has paid out EUR 417 million (SEK 4.4 billion) in compensation to publishers and authors.
“Our entire reason for existing is for BookBeat to be the leading service for books. That is why the majority of our revenue goes back to the publishers and authors who have created all the books our users can’t get enough of and want to spend both time and money on,” says Niclas Sandin.
In total, users spent close to 300 million hours on books in BookBeat during 2025.
