As part of the ‘Encounters between Industry and School’ series organised by Umicore, the chemistry and physics classes of the final year at Parler-Gymnasium now had the opportunity to put some of what they have learned into practice at Umicore. The company welcomed the students and their teachers last week to an exclusive insight into the long-established global company in Schwaebisch Gmuend.
Umicore celebrated the 60th birthday of Uwe Wohlfarth with a small gathering. The company thanked him for his many years of loyal and successful service. Managing Director Michael Herkommer emphasised that the birthday honouree has made an important contribution not only through his many years of experience and expertise, but also through his tireless commitment to the company and the environment.
The visit to Umicore Galvanotechnik GmbH by the advanced chemistry course of the 11th grade of the Franziskus-Gymnasium Mutlangen was an exciting encounter between industry and school. The students were warmly welcomed by Steffen Barth, head of the human resources department, and Karl Hieber, manager of the site. They were given a fascinating insight into the company in Schwaebisch Gmuend.
Last Friday, a large number of the approximately 200 employees of Umicore Galvanotechnik GmbH gathered for the annual company Christmas party, this time at the Gmuender Wissenswerkstatt eule, to celebrate their achievements this year.
