Grand Hôtel Opens the Terrace for the Season with a Brand-New Concept

The Terrace at the Grand Hôtel will open for the season with a brand-new concept developed by Ruinart and Mathias Dahlgren. Featuring an evolved Southern European ambiance with shellfish and champagne taking centre stage, the new concept will put the Terrace firmly on Stockholm’s outdoor dining map.

Grand Hôtel’s colourful al fresco dining spot, the Terrace, boasts a magnificent view of the Stockholm waterfront and the Royal Palace. This year, a brand-new concept has been developed in collaboration with the Ruinart Champagne House, which has been the Grand Hôtel’s house champagne since 2019. The new concept centres around shellfish combined with an extensive selection of champagne. In terms of décor, bright new colours are juxtaposed with the existing azure blue and sea turquoise hues, resulting in a relaxed, summery and elegant style.

We wanted to create an enjoyable summer oasis that brings out the relaxed mood of summer, where guests can enjoy a laid back and welcoming vibe. Together with Ruinart, with which we enjoy a close collaboration, we’ve given the Terrace an even more distinctive profile; and in combination with the other restaurants at the hotel, we can offer guests something for all occasions,” says Karl Persson, Food & Beverage Manager, Grand Hôtel.

New for this year is that Mathias Dahlgren, in collaboration with the Grand Hôtel, has been part of developing the food concept and the new menu, resulting in a summer menu with Mediterranean influences. Among other delicacies, an extensive selection of shellfish will be available in two different seafood platter interpretations. Also on the menu are warm and cold salads, accompanied by grilled fresh produce such as flank steak, chicken or halloumi. All dishes are served with crispy fries. In addition, all fare will be prepared à la minute in the Terrace’s new outdoor kitchen.

We’ve created a food concept with a distinct summer feeling. The menu features a rich selection of shellfish along with different warm and cold salads. Our aim is for the menu to reflect the atmosphere of the Terrace, from which we drew inspiration for the dishes, sides and accompaniments. If you’re in the mood for champagne and shellfish in Stockholm this summer, the Terrace is the place to be,” says Mathias Dahlgren.

The Terrace opens today, May 11, with the following opening hours: from 3pm on weekdays and 12-noon on weekends.
