Motosumo members plant 1,074 trees with #TrainForTrees campaign

During the second week of March, Motosumo, the cutting-edge digital indoor cycling platform, successfully launched its first-ever Cycle For Change initiative with the dynamic #TrainForTrees campaign. For an entire week, each calorie burned by the Motosumo community was transformed into a tree. Motosumo pledged to plant one tree for every 5,000 calories burned, driving impactful change in their first Cycle for Change initiative.

The results were extraordinary: Motosumo members logged 10,542 hours of workout time, equalling 5,370,009 calories. Their collective efforts converted to 1,074 new trees, which have been donated to #TeamTrees, an initiative in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. This long-standing organization has been planting trees across the globe since 1972, with an ambitious goal of planting 500 million new trees by 2027.

Though Motosumo originally committed to planting a maximum of 1,000 trees, the response from its members exceeded expectations. This led to a total of 1,074 trees, viewable on the #TeamTrees leaderboard.

Motosumo Co-founder and CEO, Kresten Juel Jensen, expressed his gratitude: "We’re blown away by the strong commitment from our members who have championed this initiative. Fighting climate change and protecting the environment is close to all our hearts. Our members have been riding with us to plant trees, and they’ve shown us that they like to cycle with impact.”

“I loved the campaign - I was very happy with the initiative to improve our environment by planting trees. Overall it made me change some of my workouts last week to defer my runs and increase Motosumo classes so I could increase my contribution of calories burned,” says Jaimie Hogan, a Motosumo member from southern California.

With the success of the first Cycle For Change initiative, Motosumo hopes to continue to have more impactful campaigns. Kresten adds, “We are already looking forward to repeating the next Cycle for Change initiative. This time we donated trees, next time we’ll pick a new cause that is meaningful to us and our community. We always want to rally our members around a cause. It’s important to include and invite everyone to attend, be it from home, their gym, or elsewhere.”

Motosumo is dedicated to engaging its community in selecting the next purpose-driven theme for the upcoming Cycle For Change campaign, scheduled for June this year. We hope all our members (existing and newbies) will join us on another great adventure and cycle for change with us!
