Showcasing Norwegian Food Culture in Germany

The regions of Northern Norway and Vestland are representing Norway at the international food and tourism fair Grüne Woche (IGW) in Berlin 17. -26. January 2025.

From Northern Norway, we are bringing a wide range of food, drink, and tourism businesses from all three counties and Svalbard - a total of 34 companies, 4 chefs, and 8 students. Around 30,000 samples will be made and sold in Berlin. It is with great pride that a selection of the best from the fjord, land, and plains in the north will soon be introduced to the German market.

The schools represented are Hadsel Upper Secondary School in Nordland, Rå and Senja Upper Secondary Schools in Troms, and Kirkenes Upper Secondary School in Finnmark. This year, Hadsel Upper Secondary School will represent Nordland with students and the head of the Restaurant and Food Studies department.

Norway's participation in the Grüne Woche (GW) in Berlin has the overarching goal of contributing to the development of Norway as a recognized food and tourism nation with a clear local and regional identity.

On the opening day today, two awards were given out.

1. Lofotlam SA received its European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This is part of the EU's quality regime that recognizes and legally protects high-quality agricultural products and foodstuffs from specific regions in Europe.

2. Beiarmat received the brand scheme Spesialitet, an norwegian official label awarded to the best local food and drink . They received the award for their cheeses made from goat's milk from local farms in Beiarn.

You can meet both Beiarmat and LofotlamSA at the Norwegian stand.

We are excited to invite you to visit us at Messe Berlin, Grüne Woche, Hall 8.2, Gate 9, Stand 160.
