Primus unveils its lightest ever stove: The Micron III

July 2025: The shift toward minimalist adventure is reshaping how we think about outdoor kit. Whether it’s wild camps, bikepacking weekends or long-distance solo hikes, more people are stripping back to the essentials - and Swedish outdoor brand Primus is leading the way with the launch of its lightest stove ever, the Micron III.

Weighing just 58g at a price of EUR69,95, the Micron III is a foldable sit-on-top gas stove designed for 1–2 people. It packs down to a tiny 62mm x 46mm, small enough to fit in a trouser pocket or the corner of a pack. Yet it still packs a huge punch: a 2600W flame can boil a litre of water in under four minutes, and a simple screw-on setup means it’s up and running within minutes.

This launch is more than just a product update. It reflects a broader shift in how younger generations approach the outdoors - choosing lightweight, easy-to-assemble gear that gives them the freedom to move quickly and explore further. As more people opt for stripped-back wild camping or fast and light weekend escapes, gear like the Micron III makes it easier to embrace the outdoors with confidence, but without the bulk.

Built with an aluminium valve and folding pot supports, the stove offers compatibility with a range of pot sizes, making it flexible enough for solo brews or shared trail meals. The oversized, foldable control valve is designed for ease of use, even with cold hands or gloves, while the wind-resistant high-speed flame performs reliably in changeable conditions. Each stove comes with a nylon storage bag for protection and easy packing.

With a range of camping stoves, cookware, flasks and water bottles, Primus has been a trailblazer of outdoor cooking since 1892. The Primus stove was used on the first successful summit of Mount Everest in 1953 and today it is the kit of choice for adventurers, festival goers and even high spec “glampervans” alike. Primus, still as loved in 2025 as it was in 1970, has cooking equipment that does not falter when it comes to a fun-filled and easy camping trip. The Micron III continues Primus’ long-standing commitment to quality and innovation - just in a much smaller package.

The Micron III is a significant milestone for Primus - not just because of its weight or size, but because of what it says about how people are enjoying the outdoors today. We’re seeing a real return to simpler, more self-sufficient adventures. This stove is built for that - minimalist, reliable, and versatile enough to go just about anywhere.
